What Isn't Indie These Days

After the explosion of Hipster culture, is there anything left in the world left to do without being accused of trying to be 'Indie'?
TO THE YOUNG KIDS OF TODAY. Whats indie to you, is Childhood to me. I think im a patient person and there are only a few things which really bug me, but this one is so strong that I started a blog about it. How indie right? WRONG. I am finding these days that everything I do is considered ‘Indie’ and I am a giant Hipster. Take a moment to look at the photo above, this is a picture of me when I was probably about 6 years old. Rocking some random t-shirt and kicking it with a pair of Nike sneakers on top of a car and the photo was taken with a polaroid, not a filter to make it look that way, but a actual polaroid. This is my childhood. Ok, so I like to wear Tie Dye shirts, thats a hippie thing. I like to Listen to music on Vinyl, because Im a musician and I love the way its a piece of plastic which spins around and rubs on a needle and somehow produces music!  I’m a musician, and I do it all because I have a passion for music that I want to share with others, not because I want to build my street cred with my pals. I like riding bikes, because you can transport yourself under your own power and go 3.7 x further and faster than if you walked, exerting the same amount of energy. I like taking photos, because its a way of capturing memories that your brain might otherwise forget. A moment in time which can bring back hundreds of memories just by one look. I might push some photos through instagram every so often because it often gives them depth and adds interest, but at least I make it subtle enough so its tasteful, rather than just using the 1977 filter on everything. The things I do today are a product of my childhood, not the influence of a culture which exists today. The idea of being original was destroyed a long time ago, everything is just a mutation of a combination of things from the past. So enjoy the things that you enjoy, Dress the way you want to, fuck everything and do the things that make you happy but most importantly, stop caring what people think of you. After reading this, you’re probably thinking, this guy is a total loser. Well it sure beats being a hipster. peace.
